Over 800 attended the itSMF UK Annual Conference, with many stating it was the best to date
Despite the grand venue and hectic timetable of over 70 sessions taking place, the event ran extremely smoothly, with a noticeably friendly buzz throughout the entire three days. The opening ceremony set the conference off on a good note and ensured the entire audience participated, with the ‘Silent Orchestra’ bringing many instruments and smiles to delegate faces.
This was followed by the keynote presentation by Robin Siegar who continued with the good humor and set about motivating the delegates with his high impact presentation. Robin later chatted with delegates and signed copies of two of his books on the itSMF stand.
Award winners The prestigious itSMF Service Management Award winners were announced at the superb gala dinner that took place on Tuesday. Keith Aldis, CEO, set an upbeat mood to the evening, expressing his excitement for the positive future of the service management industry. With such a high standard of recent achievement in the IT service management world, to be nominated for an itSMF Award is a great accomplishment in itself. Keith said: “Every year we hear about a phenomenal number of individuals who impress their peers, this year was no different. However, it did make shortlisting and judging exceptionally hard.” Shaun Williamson read out the nominations and winners, with prizes being presented by the members of the judging panels from itSMF UK. Everyone was encouraged to enter into the charity raffle and a record £4,500 was raised for the Lymphona Association. A great evening all in all with the jovialities carrying on well into the early hours with many joining ‘The Gr8 Show Band’!
Book success The itSMF UK Bookstore proved to be an even greater success for 2008 than previous years, with the itSMF stand being a hive of activity with the two new itSMF UK ventures 'Service Level Management - A Practitioner's Guide' and the co-branded TSO title 'ITIL V3 Foundation Handbook' flying off the shelves. If you missed out on your chance to buy them at the conference, you can purchase online at www.itsmf.co.uk. The conference came to a close on Wednesday lunchtime with the closing keynote by inspirational Roger Black who put the twinkle back into many an exhausted eye with a motivational team talk. All in all the conference was a terrific success.
