Data loss prevention with file and folder encryption technology

As everyone is now aware, through the extensive press coverage, by lost or stolen media / laptops etc is not only a serious breech of company security but also a PR disaster. Although numerous solutions exist based around end point security and disk encryption these only address part of the problem.

The most effective solution is to encrypt the files and folders on both the companies file servers and all the local machines so that only those authorised can access a file in the clear (unencrypted) and for all files saved to be automatically encrypted. This approach to DLP has three advantages:

The data traversing the network is encrypted so any internal or external person with out the right authority will not be able to access confidential information. No need to control the connection of removable media to PCs as any file copied to any removable media will be encrypted.

All back ups of file servers and desktops etc will be encrypted with out need for specialist encryption back up software enabling corporate PCI compliancy. Apsec FideAS file enterprises provides file and folder encryption with the following benefits:
  • Strong encryption with automated key administration – protection of all sensitive data within a company and on notebooks
  • Central enforcement of security policies – policies enforced even when offline
  • No bandwidth overheads, no impact on file server/workstation performance
  • Transparent to the user
