The company, a leading provider of portable air conditioning, heating and dehumidification equipment, has launched a scheme which will see a tree planted on behalf of its customers for units hired this summer. It has done so to try to break the vicious circle created by companies increasing their carbon emissions as a by-product of using air conditioning to try to keep their buildings cool.  
    
Peter Simpson, Managing Director of Rentalxpress, based in Woking, Surrey, said: “The effects of climate change are beginning to be felt and seen by us all. It has reached a point where everyone recognises that something needs to be done now.
    
“Climate change is resulting in an increasing use of air conditioning. As a leading provider of the plant, we wanted to offer our customers a way of ensuring that they can stay cool without making the situation worse. Our plant-a-tree offer is designed to do just that.
 
 “The scheme applies to all customers taking a standard 12 week hire contract. It gives them a way of balancing their carbon emissions for the whole period. In fact, in most cases the level of carbon balancing is such that it will exceed emissions generated during the hire, thereby making a broader contribution to reducing the company’s overall carbon footprint.”
   
Recognising the environmental impact and choosing to do something about it, Rentalxpress is supporting the Woodland Trust, the UK's leading woodland conservation charity, by dedicating a tree at the Trust’s wood at Merry Hill, Bushey, Hertfordshire, for every 12 week hire.
   
All Rentalxpress customers who take out a 12 week hire will be given a certificate to display in their office, enabling them to demonstrate their green credentials to staff and customers.
