We supply and support Public Sector organisations with network security, IP address management and network access control solutions, plus network management technology, also broadband and bandwidth management solutions, URL filtering, virus management, server and application load-balancing, anti-spam, wireless LAN security, logging and event management solutions and cost-effective and high–performance routers and switches.
Our clients range from the largest telecommunication service providers, to blue-chip corporate organisations, to the education and local government sectors.
We are ISO9001 and ITIL registered and are currently working towards BS27001 accreditation.
Education Sector
Our University customers include institutions as far apart as Aberdeen and Exeter, numbering over forty in total. Our recent successes include the sale of a 10,000 user URL filtering licence, backed by a 3 year contract, to a major West of England University, a DNS, DHCP & IP address management suite to a Midlands-based University and a logging and event management solution to a London University. In addition, we have University customers who have procured Gigabit Bandwidth Management solutions located in the Midlands, M4 corridor, West Country, Central and Northern Scotland. We have sold a load balancing solution to a Scottish University, a complete firewall upgrade to a London University and we have installed a WAN optimisation solution between an East-midlands University and their two Far East Campuses. Finally a host of Universities, UK-wide, have procured out-of-band management solutions from IP Performance.
Local Government Sector
Our public sector customers include the Met Office, the Office of Fair Trading, the Highways Agency, the Government Communications Bureau and the Ordnance Survey. We have solved a number of problems for our local government customers, a few of these follow.
One council’s existing infrastructure was struggling to cope with the demands of delivering modern Web technologies to a network of over five hundred schools. The Implementation of a safe and secure Content Delivery Network based upon Blue Coat Systems’ Security Gateways and Zeus Technologies’ powerful load-balancing products solved their problems. Another council had a lack of protocol visibility and a concern about undesirable material entering schools and libraries. The situation has greatly improved with the installation of corporate and library proxies in conjunction with Allot Communications deep packet inspection technology, all backed by a 4-hour response, 2-year on-site support contract.
The potential threat of malicious code, and viruses causing network downtime, coupled with a concern for data integrity and security, and the man-hours required to counteract these threats at desktop level is often a huge problem. These issues were tackled by IP Performance at the boundary in one of our customer’s networks using centrally managed solutions from Barracuda Networks and Blue Coat Systems, thereby preventing the infiltration and proliferation of spam, spyware, malware and viruses. Finally, an internet security solution including URL filtering for 4500 users had been procured from another supplier whose lack of knowledge and expertise had resulted in the equipment not being deployed. IP Performance’s engineers successfully installed the equipment and the solution is now providing a return on the Council’s investment.
