Staffordshire implements council-wide GIS
Staffordshire County Council to implement GIS to roll out council services to citizens.

The council utilises a browser-based knowledge-sharing application that makes it easy for the council to manage and disseminate information across employees, elected members and partner organisations, and to the public via the council’s website.

The GIS will help the council gain one universal view of geographic data, providing reliable location-based services to citizens and offering easier integration with partner organisations.

The council sees the application – LocalView – as a tool to provide a single point of access to the most up-to-date online community and local environment information. LocalView enables them to provide information on local services, amenities and properties with geographic context and share data with other systems such as its Oracle Spatial database.

LocalView also supports the use of the National Land and Property Gazetteer improving consistency in its address records management and making reliable address and location information accessible for citizens.

LocalView is supplied by ESRI (UK).
